IT'S "WE"...NOT THEM.
Of course we can send money to gofundme or so many other organizations that are better equipped to help those in emergency situations bring some relief to them. We also can become even more paralyzed after the initial disaster, when news sources plaster us with the blame game diverting our attention from the real needs at hand: hope and healing for those who are in the midst of extreme loss and grief. Stay focused on the people. Keep your mindful thoughts on all those people in crisis. Stay connected to those who are trying to help those in such devastating circumstances and are there on our behalf.
WE are all part of one human family and people in crisis and those trying to help them are our brothers and sisters. We are tied to each other and interconnected by our God who created us out of God’s own breath to take care of each and every one of our brothers and sisters. It’s WE...not them. So in the midst of tragedy, WE can do something powerful for our family in need. WE can pray for them. WE can send our breath, our prayers, our positive and loving energy out to them no matter where they are in the world. WE can shower them with God’s powerful grace that can give our brothers and sisters the inner strength they need to restore hope and bring healing. That silent breath passes through us and continues to connect us as one family tied together by a holy bond that can never be broken.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. Psalm 46:1-2
