THE WHY INSIDE OF ME

W-H-Y???

We often ask that three letter word question and can’t get an answer that makes sense to us or get the answer we are looking for.  When we’re grieving…whether from death, divorce, injustice or loss of something precious to us – our human instinct is to completely understand what is happening to us.  We think getting the answer to the WHY will bring some sense of knowing and that getting the answer can bring a sense of peace.  But when someone or something hurts us or a violent act is committed or an accident occurs or a sickness overtakes a loved one – in reality…will getting the answer change the outcome?  In Scripture, there are 510 WHY questions – most of them questioning God.  I found something interesting in Scripture that is comforting.  Instead of asking WHY to those questions inside of us, can we change the question to what we need to do to bring peace to any question from within:

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?

Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Psalm 42:5
